Learning The Truth, Which Set Me Free.

I am still evolving into finding The Truth works for me.

It has set me free, but still continues to evolve. The book has evolved even more in the two and half years, that it took to write it, along with me. But now we have a publishing date at last.  The description on the back of the book reads;

Finding the Truth over a lifetime freed Patricia Cherry from the narcissistic teachings of the Christian fundamentalist churches she belonged to as a child and young woman.  This is the moving story of love, compassion and forgiveness on her part for everyone concerned.  Painting a vivid picture of life as a child in the 1940’s and 1950’s and as a mother in the 1960’s and 1970’s, Patricia candidly shares her journey to freedom from indoctrinated beliefs.

I began to write this book two and a half years ago. I thought that it was done and dusted. But then life happened.

In July 2017 I was privileged to meet Vanessa Squire Kaliski, at a local meet-up of The Silver Tent, which is a worldwide group of women, over Fifty and it was still in its infancy at that time. As soon as I told Vanessa about my book, she became interested, and I sent her the first draft. She immediately sensed it’s power and how it would support other people in finding their way out of the trap of living with dogma. She was very excited about it. And so she offered to edit it, and go on to support me in the publishing.

Then at the end of August, my beloved Mum became very ill which led to her death in October 2017. At that time my brother and I became devoted to making sure that we made her end of life as comfortable as possible, which proved to be more difficult than it can seem. But this event changed how I felt about my purpose and Mum.

How was I going to do that?

I had begun that year with a Kundalini Yoga Retreat run by Jane Oppegard and Su Bear, in Glastonbury. (Shining Lights) and I felt drawn to this retreat because its purpose was to start the new year with Intention. And to bring that intention to the retreat. Mine was to be able to deal with Mum with love and compassion and not resentment and duty. It worked, and straight away on returning home that very afternoon, it was to find that Roger had already begun to look at the changes that were necessary to Mums welfare.

It proved to be a challenging year, and somehow the timing for publishing The Truth was not right.

So having given myself three months or so, to digest the events of losing Mum and evolving even more into the Wise Elder-woman that I am, I added an epilogue at the end of the original book.

 The Universe has my Back.

At the beginning of 2018, my husband became ill, and for the rest of 2018, we were focusing on his health, and for me to adjust to being a caregiver. And so once again the book was shelved.

However, through life’s events, I have learnt that The Universe has my back. When I can surrender, (not always easy) things will fall into place. I had believed that the book would be published in November 2018, but there was yet another lesson for me to learn before I could take the step of showing the world that it is possible to free.

I began to realise that it’s normal to have down days as well as up. I learnt an alternative way of seeing depression. I now call it deep rest, for except for people who are medically and chronically depressed, it’s normal to need to rest and recuperate at times. Our bodies will dictate to us when we need to rest,, and if we ignore those signals and carry on, we can become ill. Most importantly, I realised that I was making it worse by beating myself up for being depressed when I was supposed to be free! Which was a leftover feeling from the days when the churches that I belonged to, taught us that it was a sin to be depressed, irritable or angry! I had internalised that and lived under that spell for most of my life. In the jargon of the upbringing I had, I was not a good witness for the Lord.

I learn about the need for forgivenss and love.

I realised that the book was not so much about my life, the hurts, the fear or the resentment, but more about how I learnt the need for love, forgiveness and recognising that deep down I had always known the truth. I am the Universe. I am free, and I am good enough. I am a spiritual being spending time on earth to experience being human. Most of all I don’t need fixing! Which is the message of the Christian churches that I belonged to as a child and young adult.

Somewhere along the line, I took out a sacred contract with the people who have been so much an influence in my life, for every experience. Some of those experiences were painful; some were joyful. But they were all part of my learning.

How did I see the truth at last?

Most of all I’ve realised that we all need to know from the heart what our truth is. And not from what we are taught.

Yes, books and teachers will come along to help us in our seeking. But it’s the “Yes” moments that show us the truth.

When you are reading or listening, and you suddenly feel your heart leaping within you, that is your truth. Hence the title of my book was born.

Once we know that, then it frees us from the chains of having to obey rules, particularly human-made rules, to be good enough.

No matter what your religion, culture or background, if you feel trapped I hope that this book will show you that there is a better way.

I Intend to be Wise with “The Silver Tent.”

cherry blossomDSC_0157

Are you reaching the age of 50 and feeling uncertain and scared about what the future holds?

Or you maybe among women who are in denial, and saying that they refuse to think about themselves as ageing.

You may be holding back the grey, having surgery, dressing young, using expensive anti-wrinkle cream and so on.

But guess what? There is nothing wrong with you whatever you do!

I belong to a worldwide group called “The Silver Tent.” The purpose and vision of its founder Francesca Cassini are to have over a million women in this group.

At the moment “The Silver Tent” is being launched, and today 23rd April 2017, is day two of the Launch Summit.

I have just listened to the fourth speaker, Lynn McTaggart, author of “The Field” and “The Intention Experiment”, being interviewed by Francesca. Lynns experiments and writing are about how Intentions work. Or how our thoughts are strong enough to bring about intentions. Whether with negative or positive thinking.

We also heard about the power of collective intentions.

Francesca and Lynn and one of the speakers yesterday spoke about how “The Siver Tent” can be a power for change throughout the world by joining up into one big group throughout, on the internet, or it could be called the innernet, and in local physical groups wherever you are.

This group and many others, for young and older women are showing how the Dalai Lamas words spoken nearly twenty years ago now, are coming into fruition.

“The world will be saved by the Western Women”

We are built up by women who want to see a change in the world. The over fifties in general have done their bit with children and no longer have to be bogged under with running the household. Many of them are looking for a challenge or a change.

Many of them are starting in business, or becoming writers, or even enjoying taking care of Grandchildren. Some of them have gained diplomas or degrees. In this group, you will learn that it is not too late whatever your intentions are.

You will also learn the way to remain vital, healthy and vivacious in mind, body and spirit.

You will learn the joy of knowing that because you are mature you are also wiser.

And you will learn that it is no cause for worry or upset when your body starts to show signs of ageing. If you are beginning to be limited in energy, movement or physical vitality, there is no cause for alarm.

You do not have to compare yourself to other older women that you see on the internet who are still able to sit in a difficult yoga position or can dance the night away, or can still do a hundred and one push-ups.

Fine if you can, and fine if you can’t. Most of them have been doing it all their lives.

Just as a little footnote I didn’t begin doing Kundalini Yoga until the beginning of this year. I also know someone the same age as me who started last year and it supported her in coming off anit-depressents. Now she has a new lease of life.

I love this community of women, all coming together under “The Silver Tent.” and I am blogging this because I feel so compassionate about the vision and purpose of it.

We are there for each other. Some discussions are funny and others are more serious. It’s fun to ask what others do in any given situation, and expect honest and open answers.

If you want to view the summit here is the link.

Listen to it and be presently surprised at what you find. They are a bunch of women with intention.

Are you?

My Yoga experience and Ageing.

K.Yoga Retreat.1

In December 2016 along with many others,  I was thinking about my intentions for 2017.

I believe that the Universe has my back in this life.

That does not mean that I expect life to be easy and that nothing ever goes awry. We are in this world to experience everything about being human. But there is a way to make the experience one of enrichment, trust, and abundance, and it all depends on how we perceive life and all that it contains.

A more common way of looking at it is to say that we are either a glass half full or a glass half empty person.

I also believe that long articles or blogs can be very boring. So I will keep this short and easy to digest.

While I was thinking about my intentions, I came across a woman called Jane Oppegard, who with a friend Su Bear, was holding a Kundalini Retreat in Somerset. The retreat called Finding your Radiance for 2017, was about setting your intentions for the next year, clearing out the old stuff that can block those intentions and make way for the new.

I knew that was for me. Having gone through a difficult time with a personal family matter, I was feeling depressed and low and needed to get away. The idea of a retreat alone was very appealing, but somehow the idea of being able to clear away the negative stuff and start the new year with Radiance put the final touch to my desire.

All I can say is; It worked! And I intend for it to go on working!

I felt rather nervous about going, I had never done yoga before and I wondered whether I would be fit enough. But Jane did allow for that and I was able to sit on a chair. I am not in this photo, I was taking it! K.Yoga Retreat 2.

I came back feeling so different, having worked on the chakra system and releasing energy that was holding me back from carrying out my intentions.

So as well as the intentions that I already had in mind, I have now added a new one. I intend to carry on practicing Kundalini Yoga.

Jane is holding a 40 day Transformation online programme at the end of January. This is part of what she says about it on Facebook.

Do you feel that all you do is look after others, work all the time, run around from pillar to post, unorganized, never have enough time for yourself, life stands still and you never seem to move forward?
Do you need motivation to kick a habit? Smoking, drinking, eating, negative thinking?
Do you find yourself repeating the same habits? Such as unhealthy relationships, loosing your temper and getting angry.

If you get stuck in these kinds of life cycles, all they do is create negativity, and illness.

You can find the full details here; https://www.facebook.com/events/411661619224931/

I got back from the retreat last Tuesday feeling absolutley amazing and the rest of the group too. You can see the joy in our faces in the photo above. Jane is wearing the white headress.

So if you want to know more about Kundalini and Jane have a look at the above link.
