Do you really need to lose weight?

Before you embark on any programme for losing weight, it is worth while asking yourself why?

Once you decide that you are in no doubt that you want or need to lose, and you are not just jumping on the proverbial bandwagon of not accepting and loving yourself, the next step is to make an intent. But we shall talk about that in another article.

There are many reasons why people want to lose weight. Among them are the following:

  • Vanity
  • Peer pressure.
  • Celebrity worship.
  • A special occasion
  • Your own wedding
  • Modelling or dancing
  • You are obese or really overweight
  • You just want to have a flat belly
  • Post baby fat.
  • Post illness or surgery

Read on and consider which ones you think apply to you.

VANITY

Do you look at yourself in the mirror and wish you were seven pounds or so lighter?

  1. Are you being realistic about this?

  1. Have you ever been 7lbs lighter than you are today?

  1. If so, how long ago was it?

  1. Do you have two sets of clothes, one each of the bearing of the 7lbs, or its absence when you have starved it off?

  1. Will being 7lbs lighter help with all other problems in your life? If so, which ones are they?

  1. Would you really be healthier? Would the 7lbs less help with such things as arthritis, for instance?

  1. How would you plan to lose the 7lbs?

  1. What are your plans for your future eating habits, when you have lost it?

PEER PRESSURE

In this day of television, magazines and social networks, it is becoming more common for girls even at the age of ten to be looking at themselves and asking their friends if they are fat.  Recently I was with a thirteen-year old in a restaurant, asking her mother how many calories were in a particular food on the menu.  She has taken on board the message that to have a rounded womanly body is unacceptable.

Young girls talk endlessly about what they look like in a particular outfit, fretting more about whether it makes them look fatter than the colour or style.  A lot of damage is done through peer pressure, and a lot of misinformation is handed out too!

People suffering from eating disorders, such as Anorexia or Bulimia often begin their problems by worrying about calories.  But losing weight by counting calories is a myth and this subject will be covered in more detail later in the book.

Consider how much you allow other people to influence what size you think you should be.

CELEBRITY WORSHIP

Nearly every day newspapers or magazines feature a celebrity who has either put on or lost weight.  Too much on or too much off.   Do you think it is fair that these celebrities have to live their lives forever having to worry about being caught on camera and personal details about their bodies discussed by all?  Sometimes it can just be the camera angle.  Or a certain look on their faces and the camera has caught something that the journalist interprets the wrong way.  But it sells papers, and that is the excuse they give time and time again!

What is so tragic about this is that people are taken in, especially young girls and increasingly young men too.  In June 2012, there was a story about a fourteen-year old girl who had committed suicide.  She had developed Bulimia and even though she was beautiful, she had been worried about her weight.  She had ended up loathing herself!  After this event, one or two magazines started to change their ways, but still the tendency is to spot the skinny celebrity and how she did it.

Consider what you think about how the media treats celebrities.

Which magazines could be having a negative influence on you and how you perceive your body?

A SPECIAL OCCASION

  • Do you have a holiday coming up?
  • Are you going to a friend or a relative’s wedding?
  • Are you going to be the mother of the bride?

So you want to lose weight for that.  Do you really think so? Because if you are only losing the weight for the holiday bikini then you will most likely soon put it back on again. If you buy an outfit for the wedding, lose the weight, look and feel your best after a lot of starvation and then put it all on again, would you consider that to be a waste of time and money? The outfit worn only once ends up at the back of the wardrobe!

Consider how many times you have done this, or know someone who has.

YOUR OWN WEDDING

You really want to lose weight so that you will look your best on the big day, which is understandable, and many people do it. But my observation is this; time and time again, the bride or groom or even both go on a diet.  They may even join a slimming club to do it.

They get down to the desired weight, and they walk down the aisle looking their very best. Then when the reception starts, it is time to let their hair down, and all thoughts of the diet are put into the past, and forgotten.  It doesn’t matter anymore; they achieved their goal for the day so now it’s time to eat, drink and be merry.  The diet is over and within a matter of days the weight starts to go back on and within weeks they are right back to where they started before the diet!

Why do people do this?  After all, the couple loved one another enough to decide to get married before the diet!  They then decided that they really needed to change.  They needed to look better than they already did.  So in order to commit to each other they needed to look different?

That one day as a slim person was good.  They looked good.  They were slim. But suddenly once they were married it didn’t matter. By losing that weight, they lowered their metabolism. Their bodies went into famine mode and started to preserve every little bit of fat, and from the wedding onwards it is downhill all the way!  They have got themselves into a lifetime of struggling with their weight for the sake of one day!

What are your thoughts about this?

  • Have you or someone you know ever lost weight for their wedding?
  • How successful were they and did they keep the weight off afterwards?
  • What excuses did they have if they put it back on?
  • Do you consider that it was worth it?
  • Are you thinking of losing weight for your own wedding? If so, maybe you could consider what I have just said and decide that this won’t be just another diet, but will be a change of

MODELLING OR DANCING.

Many people in these professions are living on starvation diets.  They strive to be an unrealistic weight, which can lead them to becoming emaciated.  Models have become so thin that they seem to look all skin and bones. Eating disorders such as Anorexia and Bulimia are very common within these professions.

Have you or someone you know been in danger of doing this?

In these cases, many people need professional help.

What are your thoughts about this?

YOU ARE OBESE OR REALLY OVERWEIGHT

Now we come to the people who really need to lose weight.  They are obese or overweight more than the odd stone.  They may have already been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.  Perhaps they may have had a heart attack or some other heart problem.

Or they might have got to the point where getting about is very difficult.  Seats on public transport are getting too small, or they cannot walk very well.  Their joints are playing up and painful.

These people have a vast choice in how they are going to do it.  There are so many diets around that they just do not know where to start.  Each diet is giving them different information.

The magazines feature people who have lost the weight, and they look terrific!  I featured in one myself and had a wonderful day having a makeover and being pampered for the photo shoot, and it made me feel fantastic!

Bookshops and the internet abound with different diets.  Headlines in the paper scream at you. Special editions include a new diet.  But most of them are just a different version of a low calorie regime.

Whichever diet you choose, if you survive beyond the first few days and stick to it strictly, and it is your first diet, you will lose weight.  You may lose 10% of the weight you want; you may lose it all.  If you do get close to your goal, you may find losing the last few pounds just as big a struggle as the whole diet put together.

If you are with a slimming club, you may, as I have a few times, have the members cheering and clapping when you can shout “I’ve done it!”  It’s a great feeling!  Then the leader hands you your badge and explains the maintenance programme, and so begins the struggle to keep the weight off!

However, it is well known that 98% of people who lose weight this way put it back on again and many people put on even more than they have lost. I don’t want to play devil’s advocate here for those who are perhaps already struggling with losing weight on a diet, but you may want to think about what you are going to do when you reach your goal.

I am not saying at this point that you should abandon what you are doing. Just consider what you are doing is for life, and use the thoughts in this book to help you to map it out.

Find a way of eating that will be for life and not just to lose weight.

Remember the statistics say that 98% of people who lose weight, put it back on again and more besides.

This is because they are not adopting a new lifestyle and way of eating and the way that they think!  This is worth repeating.

  • Think about your plans to keep the weight off, once you have lost it.
  • Read and research to find out what you will think would suit you if you could choose how to do this.
  • This book will give you a framework to make a start on designing a diet for life.

POST BABY FAT

Women are designed to have babies!  Even if they do not want a baby by choice or cannot have them for some reason, women’s bodies have all the biological necessities for reproduction.  Even before you conceive, your body prepares itself every month, just in case.

Women’s hips are wider than men’s.  Her thighs are thicker.  (That is why you will find that if you try to wear men’s jeans the waist is disproportionate to the hips and thighs.)

Her fat storage system is different; that is why men lose weight more easily than women.

When she has given birth, she is expected in nature to breastfeed the baby.  So she preserves her fat and needs nourishing foods to do that.

The womb takes six weeks to revert to its nearly normal size.  She has flabby skin around the abdominal area, which if she is lucky or works out at the gym will gradually retract back and leave her with a reasonably flat stomach. But most women find it very difficult and may not ever get that flat stomach back.  So what do women do?

A lot of them put up with it, because they are too busy or tired to do anything about it, which is natural.

Or they go on a restrictive slimming diet!

Consequently, they are not getting the proper nourishment that their body needs at this time. Often they just give up and stuff themselves with takeaways or whatever they can get their hands on!

Women can end up feeling that somehow there is something wrong with them, when they see celebrities getting their figures back within a very short time.  They fret and worry and talk endlessly about getting to the gym to get back in shape.  Why?

I wonder if it is because they are trying to live up to a higher standard than nature intends.  If she eats properly with good, nourishing, real food, she will find that she is nourishing the baby properly, and herself and her family.  She won’t have to join a gym for weight loss, although she may want to tone up!  She certainly will not do all this on crisps and takeaways!

But she will stand a better chance of gradually toning up and being healthy if she does not go onto a restrictive calorie counted diet.

  • If you have recently had a baby and are struggling with this, what ideas have you had to lose weight?
  • Do you have a plan for healthy eating?

AFTER ILLNESS OR SURGERY

Due to lack of mobility, boredom or just people bringing them too many chocolates, people often lose weight at first during an illness or after surgery and then proceed to put it back on and more besides.

Women who have had a hysterectomy often put weight on due to hormones being disrupted and causing depression, but more often than not it is because of eating comfort foods and because of boredom. However, if it is just the hormones then the amount of weight increase should be no more than about 5 lbs.

This can apply to any weight gain when hormones are involved, including taking the contraceptive pill.  Many people who are grossly overweight will blame the fact that they are on the pill.  But the difference is really only a few pounds.

I’m afraid that the rest is because of what they eat, which is more than likely processed, refined carbohydrate.

Take an honest look at the reasons why you think you may have put on weight if you have suffered from an illness or disability.

I JUST WANT TO HAVE A FLAT BELLY.

Nature designed women to be rounded. Only fifty years ago, Marilyn Monroe was hailed as a star.  She would be referred to as a celebrity in modern times, but Marilyn was outstanding.  The reason for this was her figure, of full breasts, narrow waist, wide hips, and a rounded belly.

What was referred to as an hour glass figure.

She was the equivalent of a size fourteen these days.

Not that we have to put up with a bulging belly, but we were not designed to have the flat belly that we seem to think we should have!

Now, fifty years later women have become famous for being the opposite.  They want to look boyish, and they want to “choose” how to look.  Fighting against what nature designed them to be.  If they have big breasts, they want small ones, or if they have small breasts, they want big ones.  They certainly do not want a rounded belly!

The Oxford Companion to the Body, which can be found on the internet, talks about the extremes that people go to, to change their body shape.  Extreme dieting leads on to Eating disorders.

Plastic surgery is used to the ultimate degree, not only changing noses or face lifts, but tummy tucks, thigh tucks and so on.  Millions of pounds and dollars are spent on trying to look good.

There is more and more discontent with the way we look.  Some older celebrities look hideous as they attempt to hold back time.

Although much of this reading is directed towards women, men reading this can read between the lines and see where it can apply to them too. Men of course need to look at their belly, as that is where they generally store their fat. .

Many of us have lost the ability to accept our bodies and images for what they are.  Society is obsessed with being thin.  Lives are dominated by diets, what to eat and what not to eat.

Yet we are still in the midst of an Obesity Epidemic!

We have wandered far away from being natural humans.  Our stores are full of junk food.  Our bodies are unacceptable.  We need to get back nearer to what nature provided for us.  With both our body image and with what we eat!

We need to celebrate our bodies, not keep fighting them!

  • Which parts of your body would you change if you could?
  • Consider carefully whether you are being completely realistic?
  • Stand in front of the mirror and look at them one at a time and consider whether any of them could be changed in a natural way.

I have also decided to add in another factor for older women.

As our body grows older, there is no doubt that it will do everything it can to preserve itself.

The Primal need in our bodies will save and store as much fat as it can and as we get older and the body begins to break down, that will happen all the more.

Therefore, if you are over the age of about sixty, you may need to settle for a slightly higher weight than your mind is telling you to be.

There is a lot of evidence now that being overweight, (not obese) is healthy. See this link, but also research it on google. https://www.sciencealert.com/the-healthiest-weight-might-actually-be-overweight-massive-study-finds

So from that we can conclude that we have been led up the wrong path with NHS guidelines saying that we must be below 25 to be healthy.

The same can be said of our cholesterol levels. We do not need to constantly concerned about keep them low. But that is another matter, although it does give us some indication about how we have all been like sheep and led astray as far as our health is concerned.

So, while considering whether you really need to be constantly worried about losing fat, add this latest thought to your list.

Food and Diet Books FREE.

Hi there folks. Do you want to change your life with these two FREE books?

Do you wonder why you get drawn in every year to the mad mad feasting over Christmas, then Fast or starve for the New year?

Every year is the same isn’t it? Beginning around the first of December, it is “Eat drink and be Merry, for January 1st; we DIET!”

How many of you are swearing that you will never do it again? That you will go on a diet to end all diets, and never put on weight again.

But there is a way out of this never ending cycle. Where you can enjoy your food; all food, but understand your body and what it really wants.

These two books will set you on the path of freedom from dieting. They will also point out why we are all in this state of health in the twently first century. How to sort out the conflicting advice, and decide for yourself, with some knowledge of why you are in the trap, and what is best for you. It seems that every writer, club or expert, claims that their diet is the way to go. But these two books will make you become aware of why we behave as we do around food.

They are not special diet books, nor do they tell you what you should eat. They simply inform you of the politics of Dieting and also how food has evolved into the state it is in now.

Once you become aware of how you are being driven to eat the foods that you know are not contributing to good health, then you are on the track to food freedom.

Just to let you know that as promised these two books are FREE on Amazon for the next three days, starting today 2nd January.

Happy Reading.

Death to Dieting.

Dieting to Death?

Or Death to Dieting?

As a writer and blogger and somewhat in my everyday life, I am an expert in two fields. Dieting or not, and anything connected to death.

It suddenly struck me today that there is a sort of link between them. Take Dieting for example.

Some people get into worrying so much about their weight that they do indeed die. That is the case with the psychological disease anorexia. This dangerous condition is often started with the desire to be thin and develops into a full-blown fear of food, any food.

But I would like to point out at this time of the year especially, that it is time to put dieting to death or rest.

It is the same every year, isn’t it? Feast until you drop over Christmas and the holiday season, then go on a diet to lose weight. How futile is that?

But this trend is mostly political. Do you think that you would indulge so much every year if there were not so much temptation? Do you think that you would feel the need to diet if you did not see the adverts to diet, by the same people who gave you all the foods that tempted you in the first place?

Isn’t it time to be able to make your own choices, and let your body tell you what it wants, rather than be thrown off course by all the conflicting advice out there?

How did we get here? How did we become a society that is led by the Food giants and corporations to eat the foods that are doing the damage?

Because I too was a victim of this sort of thinking for forty years, I have written two books on these subjects. I am now into my sixth year of taking control of my diet thinking, and even though I have not been perfect, I reckon myself to be an expert in the subject.

And if I can get the technology on Amazon right, they will both be promoted FREE from January 2nd for three days. I will post another blog when they are available, but for now, can I Ask you to ponder over what I have said?

Meanwhile, if you are in a hurry, you can buy them. Or of course you can browse and see what they are about and wait until January 2nd.

2nd Edition Hunter Gatherer to Baby Boomer.

HunterGatherer_Patricia_Cherry_health_fiverr_weight_loss

https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Hunter+Gatherer+to+Baby+Boomer

I am writing this to ask you to help me with a small favour.

Some time ago I wrote a book called “Hunter Gatherer to Baby Boomer; How Food Evolved.” It has been on Amazon, but has now been re-published as a 2nd re-published, re-formatted and updated edition.

I wrote it because in my lifetime since the 1940’s I have been intrigued watching how food has changed out of all recognition.

The book begins with the Hunter Gatherers, but I have concentrated particularly on the last 100 years, decade by decade, right up until the developments in the 21st century.

I found some amazing facts about how people have always been aware of the shape of their bodies. Watching weight and worrying about self-image is nothing new apparently, and I found some amazing ways that people have done it.

Who is it for?

Have you ever considered how the food we eat has evolved?

Have you ever wondered why our food today is laden with sugar, salt and other preservatives?

In this new book, you will discover how our hunter-gatherer ancestors existed and what they ate, before the advent of farming, domesticating animals and mass production of food.

You will also learn about the obesity epidemic which has gripped the western world and where it has its roots, as well as how food has rapidly developed and changed as the 20th century progressed and our eating habits changed.

There can be little doubt that we are less healthy now than ever and this is in large part because of the food we consume. With ever increasing amounts of sugar, salt and preservatives going into our daily intake, it’s no wonder our bodies are changing in shape.

Now you can see why this has happened and make informed choices about the sort of food you consume.

Get your copy at the times below for just £0.99 and see how the food we eat today has changed beyond all recognition.

I would love it if you bought a copy to help me to get a high ranking on Amazon which puts it onto their bestseller promotions (usually featured on the right-hand side of the page) and therefore creates high visibility for this most interesting book, unique in its subject matter.

When to buy it.

To ensure that happens I have reduced the price from £3.44 to the special price of 99p. (Cheaper in USD)  It will be available for this price from 2pm-9pm on Saturday 10th June and between 12 noon to 5pm on Sunday 11th June.

Please buy at the times suggested because Amazon calculates its bestseller rankings between these times.

Can you leave a review?

Then I’d love you to go onto Amazon and leave a review. The more reviews I get for this book the better its profile worldwide.

It only needs something like;

Really enjoyed Patricia Cherry’s book. I had not thought about the history of how food came to be where it is now in the 21st century. I was fascinated with how long some foods have been in existence and also with how and why we now depend on so much processed food. … Or something like that.

Don’t have kindle – still buy it.

If you don’t have a Kindle, you can still download the Kindle player for free on all computers, tablets and phones.

I’d love it if I could reach as many readers possible world-wide.

Many, many thanks. I will let you know how it goes.

Patricia.

Experiencing Macular Degeneration.

berries-1024x300

I thought I would write about Macular Degeneration from the point of view (pardon the pun) of someone who is experiencing it.

This is a condition where the Macula at the back of the eye, degenerates with ageing. People who have the condition lose their central vision.

This results in loss of visual acuity and/or losing the ability to use contrast.

Because the problem is with the central vision, people may not be able to see other people’s features.

People who have this condition can fall into various categories, they may be extremely challenged and have very poor sight, or they may be just struggling to see what people without the condition can see and take for granted.

People, in general, do not understand this condition; I used to be one of them, and wonder why the sufferer (I hate that word but cannot think of a better one to use) can see some things, but not others.

Let me give you an example. I was in a store the other day looking for a warm cardigan. The cardigan I wanted was hung fairly high, and I could not see the sizes. So I asked the assistant for some help because I have a vision problem.

She asked what size I wanted, passed it down and walked away. I managed to find what I wanted eventually. But I had to keep lifting the various cardigans down because I could not see the sizes. This is to do with contrast. The sizes on the labels were in such small print that I could not see them. The sizes on the hangers were yellow against brown. NO CONTRAST.

When I went to the counter to pay, the unhelpful assistant was standing watching. The assistant behind the till asked if I wanted a bag, and when I looked down there was a five pence piece on the floor so I joked that I would have a bag as the five pence for it had just been supplied, and I picked it up.

The other Assistant, remarked, “Your sight can’t be that bad then if you can see that!”

I don’t know about you, but I hate having to be defensive. So I tried very patiently to explain that there are some things that I can see and others I can’t, and the reason why I could see the silver five pence piece was that it contrasted well with the dark carpet on the floor.

This event is what prompted me to write this. In the group that I attend for MD we are very aware of people’s ignorance about this condition, and because people are living longer now and it is a degenerative condition, there are many more of us cropping who have the condition.

You may see people, like me, who walk around using a symbol cane. There are three types of canes for sight and vision problems.

Most of you will know about the regular white cane or walking stick, which has been in use for generations.

Then there is a cane with black and red stripes, which is for people with sight and hearing problems.

The cane that I use and is coming into popular use is a Symbol cane, or Identity cane.symbol-canesymbol-cane-folded It is to alert the public that I have a vision problem and to be patient if I seem to be slow or getting in the way, or I am asking for help.

This simple little device brings me more understanding and patience from people. Once they can see that there is a problem, because of my symbol cane, most people are kind.

But there are many people who are confused, which I have already mentioned.

The problem caused by lack of contrast manifests itself in a few ways. There is one example above. in my story about the cardigan hunt.

I can see letters as long as they are in good background and lettering colours.

I can see, black against white or yellow or pale colours.

But I cannot see lettering on two similar colours, for example; white on blue or green or pale colours, or black on red, brown on yellow, and horror of horrors two shades of the same colour.

A menu in a Restaurant I visited recently was in lilac lettering on a beige card. I could not see a thing! Even though compared to many I have good sight.

Contrast is also important for steps, bus and transport platforms, and edges of pavements. We already use contrast in our everyday lives for these things because of health and safety for everybody.

For people with MD, good contrast can be essential.

It may be worth while to consider that when you are designing an app or a website for example.

A report by the BBC from 2011 says that there are over 60,000 people in Britain with the condition and the numbers are predicted to rise.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-12736988

The condition is not curable, but there are things that you can do to help avoid it while you are younger. Also there are supplements that you can take to help control the speed that it takes control of your sight.

Once again good nutrition is vital http://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions/amd-prevention.htm  and supplements which contain Meso-Zeaxanthin as well as Lutein, Zeaxanthin, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Zinc and copper.

You can obtain supplements claiming to be for your eyes, but the best ones contain the extra Meso-Zeaxanthin.

Eat plenty of green vegetables which contain Lutein.

I recently heard an eye consultant claim once again that it is a waste of money taking supplements for MD, because if you eat a good diet, that should be enough.

But the nutritionists among us will agree with me, that the question is “How many people bother with a good diet?” Secondly, by the time food reaches us, how many nutrients have seeped out, if they were there in the first place with the depleted soils of the twenty first century?

Other contributing factors, as well as the genetic one, are the same as for other conditions, smoking, obesity and lack of exercise. My contributing factors were smoking for thirty years, and the genetic one.

I tried to think of a better word than sufferer earlier, because I don’t see myself as a “Sufferer” but as someone who is experiencing the condition. However, it would sound crazy to go around saying “I’m experiencing the condition of Macular Degeneration!”

So please don’t misunderstand and think that I am asking for sympathy, I am simply letting you all know what MD is and what people “Experience” with it.

So, if you see people with a white symbol stick, yet you are wondering why they seem to be able to see, I hope that this information will help you to understand a bit more and shed light on the confusion.

The Rebellious Diet!

Cherry-Logo111

Are you tired of being told that you are fat, or need to lose weight, or that you don’t eat properly?

Are you tired of feeling bullied?

By the medical profession, or by the media, family, friends or work collegues.

But you are feeling rebellious and won’t listen or take action.

Yet deep down, you know that they are right, but you don’t want “them” to see that they are.

Of course it may be that the voice is coming from within you. You know that it’s right, but somehow you manage to ignore it.

How would it feel to walk into a room or the surgery in a few months and shock people with your success?

How would it feel to say “I did it my way?”

There is an old saying “Don’t cast your pearls before swine.” In other words, if you tell people what you are doing, they will be cheering because they think they are right, they will be watching you and making remarks, or they will be giving their opinions and throw you off Piste.

The secret is; “Don’t tell anyone what you are doing”!

I have written two books that may be the answer to your problems.

Kindle_Cover_Edited“Design your own diet” is to help you to do it your way. It could be the perfect answer for a rebel like you. You can sit with this book and work out a way of eating and thinking, that is entirely your own. No rules except the ones that YOU make. The subtitle is “My Ideas, My results” that means yours and no-one elses.

Take the oppurtunity to get it FREE on Amazon kindle on Monday 19th Jan and Tuesday 20th.

The latter is what is meant by living in the Now.

Many people spend every day trying to achieve things in the belief that one day everything will come together and at last they will be happy.

The shiny new car, the big house, meeting a partner, studying for qualifications and even trying to lose weight, are all in the future, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Indeed, there is everything right about it.

BUT be careful that in trying to achieve that utopia, you don’t lose everything that you already have.

Peace of mind, loving and being loved, being healthy, active and mindful, are all things that will help you to achieve what you want in future, but don’t sacrifice them along the way eh?

Be happy while you are being active in pursuing what you want.

Be aware of those around you who love you and want your company.

Be active and keep yourself fit.

Eat the right healthy foods and feed your body the proper nourishment.

Be mindful of that inner voice or source that is guiding you.

Be aware of the power of now.

Be happy and everything you want will be attracted to you because you will have created it that way.

What is Your Ageing or Health Story?

Kindle_Cover_Edited

Are you struggling with weight?

Are you active enough?

Are you always at the doctors surgery?

Are you ageing with vitality?

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O3HGHNK – http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00O3HGHNK                                  Are you bored?

I bet that you could find something that you really want to do or be, but you have a story that is holding you back.

It could be that you believe the reason why you are not able to achieve your goal is a genuine one. But why not just write THE END to the old story and begin a new one.

For example. You have contacted a friend and he or she has not answered. In your mind you think, she doesn’t like me anymore, or she is too busy for the likes of me, or I bet she’s out enjoying herself somewhere and doesn’t care. When you eventually find out that she had lost her phone, or was with someone and could not be disturbed, there is sigh of relief and you realise that what you did was to make up a story. And every time a similar circumstance comes up, you re-write the old story.

Let’s  take a problem such as losing weight. It could be that you have tried every diet under the sun and it has not worked. So you have given up trying. How true is your story? Have you really tried every diet under the sun? And if you think that you have, could there be another way, other than dieting?

Take activity, you may have persuaded yourself that you are an active person and that you get plenty of exercise. You go to the gym, or have tried that, but it makes you so tired and hungry that have given it up as a dead loss. Have you thought of trying another way rather than just giving up?

Visiting the doctor for every little ache, pain or concern, can be a bad habit. Or it could be that you are bored. Or it could be that it is your hobby in life to talk about illness instead of just finding out what your condition is, research it, deal with it the best way possible, put it on the back burner and get on with your life.

Are you feeling your age? Do you feel older than your years? Are you blaming everything on your age?

Are you really bored or are you just lifeless with no motivation?

Or are you still living the old story?

I have just watched a Tony Robbins talk on TV in which he talks about how to win in life. He talks about motivation, strategy and how to infuence people, but he reckons that the single biggest thing that holds people back is their story.

What is yours?

What is really stopping you?

Are you telling the same story over and over again in life and not even considering that you could change it?

You do have a choice! You can change it!

What ever you may be feeling that you stuck in, or a failure at, how could you change the story?

Put a stop to procrastination, fear and using your old story as an excuse.

If you are stuck in the old story with your weight, or any food issues, there are two reports that you can obtain FREE with no subscription sign up, and I promise that you will not hear any more from me unless you want to, if you just write to me by email and request one or the other or even both. Food; Friend, Fun or Foe?

christmas2012 009

For over forty years, I considered myself a victim. To;

  • My Self Image
  • My ugly body
  • The fat on my body
  • Foods that just triggered me off
  • A compulsion to just carry on eating, even when fullSodDieting
  • Dieting to get rid of the fat and feelings of loathing
  • Calorie counting
  • Fat units
  • Food intolerance
  • Addiction
  • My fat belly

It took me nearly a life time to discover the root of why I have always had this battle. One of them being that as a child I was always being told to tuck my tummy in, and as a 14 year old I was issued with a corset to keep it in.

This message was not only coming to me from my Mother, but from my gran and also a teacher at school who was the ring leader in calling me GubGub after the pig in Dr Dolittles adventures.

I don’t blame any of them now, but I did for a long time, even of I was unaware of it.

Many new regimes of eating in our modern days, look at the physical side of control. But there is another deeper side to it all. Much like trying to run a car that keeps breaking down. Just filling it with more fuel, or a different type of fuel, will not fix the problem if it is the battery that is flat. So it is with humans. If we keep just thrusting down feelings, memories and resentment, we will never get to the root of the problem. Our batteries will always be flat.

Getting into the right place is not necessarily just about looking great. When we have an “inner” glow, we can look fantastic.

Part of my inner work that freed me up was forgiveness for all those people who gave me a false message, which I lived by.

I have had quite a journey over the years, some of it exciting, some not, but always challenging.

It is a wonderful thing to be free of the tyranny of forever worrying about my shape and my looks.

How do you go about finding that inner glow, which gives you confidence in yourself, and frees you up from the necessity of the “Forever Diet?”

I would love to hear your comments.

Ageing and the Law of Attraction

banner-790x90

Untitled-1

Many of you will be aware of the Law of Attraction and many may not.

Many may be aware of how this affects ageing, and indeed your whole life cycle.

Firstly lets define what the LOA is.

It is something that happens whether you believe or not! Just like gravity, it is a Universal law. One of the things that keeps the universe going. It is an energy, you cannot see it, but it is there. It is NOT a magic spell, that you can use to just sit and attract things to you with.

But when you see evidence of it, then it can seem magical.

There is a film that has been used to introduce people to the Law of Attraction called “The Secret!”  This was pruduced by Rhona Byrne some 10 years ago, and brings a lot of peoples attention to it. But I would like to emphasise that it is only an introduction. There is a lot more behind it than just saying that you want something and expecting it to happen.

You do need to take action! For example if you want to lose weight, you cannot just say “I want to lose weight” and then continue with your present lifestyle. But what will happen if you mean it, is that you will find people and things coming into your life that draws your attention to the changes that you can make. It is up to you to make those changes and use those resourses.

Hence, the word Attraction.

In our every day lives, the LOA is coming into effect with what we think, say and believe. It works for the better and for the worse.

If you get up in the morning and think that you are going to have a good day, you will more than likely have a good day. If you think that you are going to have a bad day, then you almost certainly will, unless you change your thinking.

A good example would be if you got up and tripped over a rug on your way to the shower, and then perhaps you dropped the soap. You may think “Here we go, it’s going to be one of those days!” Guess what happens. But you could just say, “Ok world, you want a challenge? It’s not been good so far, but I will damn well make sure that it does not stay that way!”

Sychronisation then comes into play, and you start noticing the good things going on around you. You forget the bad start, and get on with your day.

This is what happens in life in general, and so it can be with ageing. If you think of your older years as something to dread and resist with constantly fighting it with ani-ageing this and anti-ageing that, you end up attracting a dreadful old age, and cannot understand it when you find that you are fighting what seems like a losing battle. You find that inspite of all your efforts, with face creams, make up, face lifts, tummy tucks, supplements and so on, that age is winning after all. What we resist, persists!

In effect the Law of Attraction has been in action, because you are concentrating on fighting what you do NOT want!

The way to use the LOA in a way that would serve you better, is to embrace your ageing, and then you will find sychronisation coming into play, with people, articles, books and ideas that help you to be the best you can as you age. How to eat, how to be creative, learning, a new interest that will give you a boost in self-image, and expertise that you may not realise that you have and can help other people, teaching them using writing skills and the internet.

Being a wise old grandma or grandpa that children love to talk to and confide in, or the sort of parent that is a friend to your children. Gathering people around you that think like you. You are loved and you love them.

I recently went to a 90 year olds birthday party, and there were 14 wonderful vibrant people there. Not a sing-song in sight! Just stimulating conversation and healthy and attractive people, from the age of 60 onwards. Because she is attracting these people to her with her happy disposition.

So you see you can end up glowing, joyful and happy and enjoying the ageing process and seeing that actually ageing can bring wisdom and vitality.

Can you see the difference?

The Universal Laws are many. LOA is the most well known and most likely the one that you have heard about. In the following week or so I will be looking at how some of them can have an effect on you no matter what your age.
